Colleen Wolfe Apologizes for Jets Drama: NFL Network Journalist Responds to Woody Johnson Claim.

Following rumors that head coach Robert Saleh and owner Woody Johnson had gotten into a verbal altercation during this week’s NFL Owner’s Meeting, it seemed as though the New York Jets might find themselves at the center of controversy once more.

Nevertheless, the NFL Network reporter who broke the story has apologized for causing a distraction following a call from Woody Johnson.

The “very heated conversation” between the two was revealed by NFL Network’s Colleen Wolfe. Furthermore, given that she is a well-known journalist with evidently extensive ties within the league and that she may have even witnessed the conversation, why wouldn’t anyone find her credible?

According to @ColleenWolfe on the @AroundTheNFL show, Robert Saleh and Woody Johnson got into a “very heated conversation” at the NFL Owner’s Meeting, and it got awkward.

Plus, the Jets always have crazy news stories coming out of that franchise. Whether it’s the quarterback saga, the MetLife turf, or traditional Jets chicanery, it’s not hard to believe bad things said about the franchise.

Woody Johnson took to Twitter on Thursday to try to dispel rumors of a spat with his coach, and did so forcefully.

Wolfe released a statement about the incident on Thursday night, in which she seemed to acknowledge that, given her lack of direct knowledge, she probably shouldn’t have reported the tale. Look it over.

There’s something strange about this statement. Why would she say it if her intention wasn’t to break the news? Furthermore, before making a public announcement on something she didn’t witness directly, why not get multiple sources to confirm? It’s undoubtedly not her best effort.

I’m sure everyone can move on from this, but this seems unfair to Woody Johnson, Robert Saleh, and the New York Jets.
