Columbian center-back Yeimar Mosquera is a top target for Aston Villa, who are eager to finalize a deal for the sum…

Yeimar Mosquera, a 19-year-old defender for Colombian team Orsomarso SC, is in talks to join Aston Villa.

The center defender, who joined Colombia’s Orsomarso of the second level in January, has been pursued by Villa, who hope to reach a definitive deal. Mosquera made 20 domestic appearances for Colombia’s under-20 team last season, scoring twice.

Mosquera would be Villa’s eighth summer addition as manager Unai Emery looks to bolster a team that will play in the Champions League this year.

Although the teenage defender has relatively little first-team experience at Orsomarso or at his previous club, Deportivo Pereira, in the first division of Colombia, where he played in their under-20s, he would still be considered a player for the future and could go out on loan to Villa’s Spanish sister club, Real Union.

On Saturday, Villa will play their away Premier League opener against West Ham.
