Kamala Harris has agreed to take on Donald Trump in another presidential debate.
The vice president said on her X (formerly Twitter) account that she is prepared to perform live once more, this time on CNN.
“On October 23, I would be happy to participate in a second presidential debate,” she added. “I hope to have @realDonaldTrump join me.”
“The American people deserve another opportunity to watch Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots,” said Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chair of her campaign. The single general election discussion would be a first in contemporary history. Voters get a rare opportunity to see the candidates side by side and assess their divergent visions for the United States during debates.
This presidential debate would take place at CNN’s Atlanta studios, same as the previous one in 2024, which featured President Joe Biden and Trump.
After the ABC-hosted debate in Philadelphia on September 10, the former president had earlier stated on Truth Social that “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE.” CNN reports that he did, however, mention to reporters that he might think about taking on Harris once more “if I got in the appropriate mood” during a campaign trip in California earlier this week.
The October discussion would have a similar structure to the earlier ones, lasting 90 minutes and not having a live studio audience.
Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, will face off against J.D. Vance, Trump’s vice presidential nominee, on October 1 on CBS News from 9 to 10:30 p.m. ET.
