Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof of Manchester United are questionable for Saturday’s Community Shield match up against Manchester City due to injuries.
Although they were part of United’s preseason tour in the United States, Maguire, 31, and Lindelof, 30, did not play much. While Lindelof was nursing a slight knock, Maguire has been recuperating from a calf ailment that had kept him out of England’s European Championship squad.
Maguire did not appear in the encounter against Liverpool, although he did play in the half against Arsenal and Real Betis. Lindelof participated in one half of the matches, however it was against Liverpool and Betis.
Both players are “doubts for Saturday’s game against City,” according to United, however Erik ten Hag is anticipated to provide an update when he holds his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
Maguire recently spoke of missing out on England’s march to the European Championship final and United’s May FA Cup victory over City as “the toughest moment of my career”.
Ten Hag’s team, on the other hand, enters this weekend’s meeting at Wembley Stadium on the heels of a mixed preseason in which United emerged victorious in two of their five games.
Throughout the summer, United has been trying to bolster their defense. They paid up to €70 million to sign Leny Yoro from Lille, but he will be sidelined for up to three months due to a foot injury he suffered against Arsenal.
