Rodri was given a three-match suspension for violent behavior by Manchester City, and as a result, he will not be available for the crucial encounter against Arsenal in a fortnight.

In Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, Rodri received a red card for putting his hands on Morgan Gibbs-White’s throat. His suspension will start on Wednesday when City takes on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

The club has adopted the same position as manager Pep Guardiola, who opposed the 27-year-old’s appeal and said that he needed to “learn his lesson.”

The Spaniard will also be sidelined for the trip to Wolves on Saturday. Kalvin Phillips is hoping a solid performance at St. James’ Park might earn him a rare start at Molineux. According to Guardiola, certain players are already “exhausted” with the workload and are being rested against Newcastle. Examples include Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias.

Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic were among players who missed the weekend due to injuries at City. Guardiola will decide whether Kovacic is fit for the third-round match on Tyneside after the Croatian has since trained.

Manchester City decided against appealing Rodri’s three-game suspension, thus he won’t play against Arsenal.
After a physical altercation with Morgan Gibbs-White during City’s victory over Nottingham Forest, the Spaniard was dismissed.

In preparation for this week’s Carabao Cup match between City and Newcastle, Guardiola plans to rest a number of important players.
Guardiola stated of Rodri after the dismissal: “Rodri has to control himself and his emotions.

This is what he must complete. Rodri cannot receive a yellow card, however I may. I’m not a gamer. The men inside must exercise caution.
