According to a KentOnline story, Lewis Walker, a striker for Gillingham, may be loaned out.
In the near future, Gillingham might give the attacker temporary permission to leave through the escape door. Currently, he is positioned lower on Priestfield’s pecking order.
Walker, 24, has not yet made an appearance for the League Two team this year. He is anticipated to play a few minutes for the B squad this evening against National League South opponent Dartford.
According to KentOnline, a ‘potential’ loan move to an unidentified National League team is in the works.
Gillingham’s departure is likely
Walker’s brief departure would benefit all parties. Before eventually heading back to Gillingham, he would have a few more minutes.
This semester, there are few prospects for him to join their team because of the fierce rivalry for spots. The team led by Neil Harris has had a strong start to the new season and is currently ranked second, just behind Notts County.
Walker began his professional career in the non-league at Ilkeston Town before Derby County gave him a chance to succeed in the Football League in 2016. Prior to being signed by QPR, he spent two years with the Rams, including time spent on loan at Darlington to gain experience.
The attacker continued to play for the R’s on four occasions before departing following a loan spell at Aldershot Town in the non-league. Then, Italy beckoned, and he spent time there playing for Como and Athletic Carpi in Serie B and Serie C, respectively.
He was hired by Gillingham in July of last year to give his offensive department greater depth and competition. He has made 27 appearances in all competitions, but has thus far unable to have an effect in Kent despite contributing with four goals.
